Insulation work we take on in Bismarck
Attic sealing and top-ups for older homes
We seal the gaps around lights, pipes and the hatch, then blow in loose fill that's as deep at the edges as in the middle.
Spray foam for homes with cold crawl spaces
Foam seals air and insulates in one pass, so it suits crawl space walls, basement walls and attics where the ductwork runs.
Wondering what your attic needs?
Bring your power bills, the rooms that run cold and any questions about old insulation, then ask us for an estimate.
Our insulation contractor services in Bismarck, ND
Pinnacle Bismarck Spray Foam Insulation is an insulation contractor in Bismarck, ND, for drafty rooms, cold floors and high power bills. Price and schedule turn on how big and how cramped the space is, whether old insulation needs removing first and whether spray foam or loose fill fits, and the written estimate spells out what we'd do and why.
Spray foam insulation
Spray foam expands into gaps, sealing air and insulating in one coat, and it earns its higher cost where ductwork runs through the attic.

Upstairs too hot or too cold? We check how many inches are already in your attic, seal the leaks and add only what it's missing.

Blown-in insulation is loose fill blown through a hose, and it's how we usually top up an attic once the gaps underneath are sealed.

Not sure where the heat goes? We look over the attic, walls, crawl space and basement with you, then start where your house loses the most.

When old insulation is soaked or full of droppings, new material on top won't fix it, so we pull it out and clean up first.

Cold floors over a crawl space usually come from bare walls and open gaps below, so we seal and insulate the crawl space itself.

We fill empty or thin outside walls in older houses through small holes we patch afterward, so a drafty room holds heat without tearing out drywall.

What's air sealing? It's closing the gaps around pipes, wires, lights and the attic hatch before insulating, so the new insulation isn't fighting a draft.

We insulate basement walls and the top edge where the house sits on the foundation, where drafts usually get in, so the room stays warmer.

Closed-cell foam is dense foam that blocks moisture as well as air, which suits crawl space walls, basements and other spots that run damp.

Open-cell foam is the lighter, softer foam, and it seals air in rooflines and odd-shaped cavities for less than closed-cell where moisture isn't a concern.

Business owners call us for shops, offices and warehouses, and we look the space over with you the same way we would a house.

A crawl space vapor barrier is heavy plastic laid over the dirt floor and taped at the seams, so ground moisture stays out of the framing.

We install vapor barriers on walls and ceilings during remodels and basement finishes, so moisture from inside the house doesn't soak into the insulation.

Attic air sealing closes the openings in the attic floor, around can lights, the chimney and the hatch, so warm air from your rooms stops rising straight out.

Retrofit insulation means adding insulation to a finished, lived-in house through the attic, crawl space and small wall openings, instead of opening up whole rooms.

Common insulation questions in Bismarck
How much does insulation cost in Bismarck?
It depends mostly on the size of the space, what's already up there and which material fits, so I give you a figure in a written estimate after seeing your house. Removing soaked or damaged insulation first, or choosing foam over loose fill, raises the cost.
Is spray foam worth the extra cost over blown-in insulation?
For most open attics, no, because sealing the gaps and topping up loose fill does the job for less. Foam earns its higher price when ductwork runs through the attic, or on crawl space and basement walls where you want air and moisture stopped in one step.
How long does an insulation job take, and do we have to leave the house?
It depends on the size of the space, whether old insulation has to come out and how much sealing it needs, and I'll give you a clear idea at the estimate. For spray foam you'll usually need to be out for a while, and we go over the re-entry time, when you, the kids and the pets can come back, before the job is booked.
Does an insulation contractor need a license in North Dakota?
Yes, North Dakota requires a state contractor license for any job that costs more than $4,000, and the Secretary of State issues it. We're licensed and fully insured, and it's fair to ask any contractor you're considering to show you theirs.
What happens at an insulation estimate?
I come out, look over your attic, walls or crawl space with you and show you what's there, how many inches you have and where air is getting in. Then I send a written estimate that says what we'd do and why, and if your insulation is fine, I'll tell you that instead.
Do you guarantee your insulation work?
Yes, our work is backed by our satisfaction guarantee. Just as important, I explain what we'll do and why before we start, so you know what you're paying for and can judge the finished job yourself.
Can you put new insulation over the old insulation in my attic?
Sometimes, if the old insulation is dry and clean, but not if it's been soaked or is full of droppings, because the problem just stays under the new layer. I'll show you what's up there, and if it needs to come out, removal is part of the estimate.
Do I need a permit to insulate my house in Bismarck?
It depends on the job, so before we start we check with the city's Building Inspection Division, and if a permit is needed we apply and wait for it to be issued. The city requires a building permit for alterations and repairs to existing buildings, and you can call the division yourself at (701) 355-1465 if you'd like to ask.
Want a plain look at your attic?
Ask for an estimate and I'll look the space over with you, then write up what we'd do and why.
Plain talk. Careful work.
Tell us which rooms run cold and how old the house is, and we'll get back to you within one business day to set up a visit. The estimate is free and written, with no pressure to book.
